What the BusiMDM app collects

This notice covers the BusiMDM app for iPhone and iPad. The website privacy notice covers this website and its request form.

Who is responsible

The BusiMDM app runs on a device issued to you by your employer or another organisation. That organisation decides what the app collects and why, and is the controller of the information described here. Busitrade Ltd makes BusiMDM and processes that information on the organisation's instructions.

This means your first point of contact about your own information is the organisation that gave you the device. We can only act on their instructions.

What the app collects

The app reports the following about the device, so that whoever supports it can see its condition:

  • The operating system version and the hardware model.
  • The battery level and whether it is charging.
  • How much storage is free and how much there is in total.
  • The app's own version.
  • Whether you have granted the app permission to use location.

Location

The app collects the device's location only when both of these are true: your organisation has asked for it, and you have granted the permission when iOS asked you. Either one alone is not enough, and you can withdraw the permission at any time in Settings.

It is collected so that a lost or stolen device can be found. That is why the app asks for the "Always" permission rather than "While Using": a device is usually lost while nobody is holding it. The app tells you what location is used for before it asks.

Location is sent to your organisation. It is never used for advertising, never sold, never given to a data broker, and never combined with information from other companies' apps or websites.

What the app does not collect

  • Your messages, email, photos, files, calls or browsing history.
  • Which apps you use, or what you do inside them.
  • Your name, your personal email address or your contacts.
  • The advertising identifier, or any identifier used for tracking.

Some of this the app could not collect even if it were asked to: iOS does not give an app the list of other apps installed, or access to another app's data.

Who receives it

The organisation that issued your device, through the BusiMDM service it runs. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Your organisation decides, under its agreement with us. When a device is removed from management, the app stops reporting.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its processing. Because your organisation is the controller, ask them first. If you cannot reach them, use the contact form and we will help. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

BusiMDM is for devices issued by an organisation to the people who work for it. It is not directed at children.
